Shorthand

As you work on flowing, you should develop your shorthand. Shorthand is the use of characters, abbreviations, or symbols rather than words to maximize your note-taking ability. Here is a short and incomplete list of possible shorthand terms and symbols. Two important things to consider before accepting any of the following: one, you need to use shorthand that you understand, and two, for each topic you should create a shorthand for common words and phrases that are unique to that topic. For example, the sample flow uses “coll” for college and  “unem” for “unemployment”. Shorthand for debate terms, source names, and terms of art will be useful whatever topic you debate.
